AGPL??? worthless. might as well make it proprietary. can’t be used for anything commercial.
Yeah brother ‘anonymous coward’, tell them like it is….. using AGPL for a network service is like using the GPL for a non-network-service standard piece of software - absolutely impossible to use in a commercial product.
Boy are Redhat/Novell/ect… going to be upset once they realize they can’t use their GPL software in a commercial fashion. Heh heh, I bet their millions of dollars in profits will dry up then, eh Coward? That will be hilarious……….. hey……. wait a second…… ;P
On a serious note, way to go Patcito and Shapado devs :) AGPL’s day os coming and Intrepid developers with integrity and dreams are leading the way. Keep up the great work :D
Pat
I don’t like the AGPL at all, but I don’t think it’s quite so bad for this sort of thing. Unless you plan on making some crazy changes/additions to it, the real value in answer sites like Shapado can create is in the brand and community built up rather than the code.
AGPL stinks. Go ahead an use this software on your site. Anything on your site falls under the AGPL if you change even a comment in the CSS. Your site becomes one app. This is not the same as GPL for non-network services. The old GPL says if you DISTRIBUTE it then you must also provide a way to get the source. This one says if you convey (viewing on the web) it is GPL. Worthless license for open source. This is viral source NOT open source.
