RSS Feed does not include all posts on ruby flow?

I just noticed my feed reader does not display all topics posted on Ruby Flow. Is it a bug or a feature? If you look at the RSS feed page below, you’ll notice it does not include one single post on Mar 8th, however there are several actually. RSS Feed

Apparently, only registered and approved users’ submissions are making it to Twitter and the feed.

Above comment is correct. The reason was to avoid spam. I consider feed (and Twitter) space to be sacred. If suddenly 20 spam posts in a row end up in there, this site is totally screwed. At least, I’d definitely unsubscribe from a feed that was like that..

On the site, I get the opportunity to delete spam or otherwise mitigate it with thousands getting stuck with it.. but feeds are really, really tricky to work with in a similar way since the post goes out almost immediately.

That’s totally understandable. Feed readers will miss some good posts though. I got 2 suggestions

  1. Provide another channel that includes all posts (can cause confusion and can not prevent feed readers to receive spam)
  2. Include posts approved by moderator (posts will have a delay, maybe up to days, but late is better than never ;-)

If you feel those are not good enough solutions, I’m fine with coming to the website instead of relying on my feed reader. I really appreciate your efforts on creating such a great place for us.

I just set up a scraper on Feed43 to do a “raw” feed for you if you prefer to use it. :)

Great!

I’ll use it and blame myself if I got spams ;-)
